OPI: Pearl of Wisdom

This was the first bottle of OPI I have ever purchased. To be quite honest, I think the name of this polish swayed me into purchasing it. B) I also brought this because I favored “low-maintenance” colours at the time. Back then, I liked colours that were subtle so when chipping occurred, it wouldn’t be noticeable haha.

The colour of this polish flashes silver, green, and pink depending on the lighting. It also has subtle shimmer in it. I’m wearing 3 coats in this picture. I’m quite sure this will always have a VNL, so it might be best to layer it over another colour if a VNL bothers you. I highly suggest applying this polish with thin coats. I applied this one with fairly thick coats. Also, I apparently didn’t wait long enough between coats because I realized it was still dent-able even after 5 hours and had a couple bubbles. Sigh.

I’m not sure what I was thinking when I brought this. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either. Maybe I’ll feel different when I try layering this colour.

This polish is quite interesting; it’s a jelly base polish with small red, purple and blue flakies. I’m wearing 4 coats in these pictures, but at 4 coats you’ll still have a slight VNL, but from a normal distance you can’t really tell so I don’t mind.

I do like the combination of the jelly base with multi-colored flakies. It gives my nails a lot of depth and dimension. The wear on it is pretty decent, I wore it for a couple of days during the school week.

Coming May, we're considering selling nail polish to our lovely readers. We know that these brands can be pretty costly at approximately 12-13 dollars a pop. So we figured we can help.

Right now we're considering Canada and the US, we'll poke around to see what is the cheapest way to ship. (We'll consider international once we find out what the prices are, we just don't want anyone to pay too much for shipping since the idea is to be able to save some money)

Nicole By OPI: Coral Denominator

Justin Bieber's: One Less Lonely Girl part 3.

Off the bat this color reminded me of two colors from Zoya's Reverie Spring 2010 Collection. Coral Denominator is a happy medium between Reece and Happi, except with bigger shimmer particles. It's a warm medium toned pink with golden shimmer to it. This is perfect for all you girls with a warm undertone. (I'm a neutral undertone if any of you were wondering, lol)

I'm wearing about 3-4 coats in these pictures. You can stop at 3 coats but in well lighted areas you'll be able to see some VNL, but if that bothers you go for the 4th coat. The drying time is excellent. I find that a lot of shimmer/glitter polishes have the tendency to dry pretty quick.

Weeeeee! So Bright!

My Pick for St.Pattys

I'm not sure why I said it as if I even went out on St. Patrick's day. :( I actually ended up staying home to rest since it was my day off from school. My brain needed to reboot. haha.

I did find time to pick out a green though! This color is from Claire's, one of their mood changing polishes. If my nails were longer it would fade from light green to a kelly green at the tips. I did a bit over 3 coats here, which isn't a problem at all because the coats dry super fast. Once you reach the desired coverage, I highly recommend putting on top coat because it dries matte. Quite pretty, I must say.

It's Warming up!

Oh, I'm so excited for the weather to warm up. I don't know about you girls, but here in Canada there hasn't really been sun out, and just this week it's actually nice out! I hope it stays that way I have quite a few colors I want to swatch, yet I've been hesistant because with the weather it's hard to capture nice pictures!

That being said, the first thing I want to do is break out my hot pinks and corals :)

I went through my drawers and picked out my top 5 pink/coral shades. From left to right:

Theres actually one coral that I've been dying to get my hands on. Illamasqua's Lament, does anyone own it? What do you think of it? I can't really find many swatches of it online :(

This is from Essie’s Fall 2010 collection (I know I’m really late to post this, sorry about that).

I’m wearing 4 coats in these pictures. I could’ve stopped at 3 coats, but this dries pretty quickly so I didn’t mind. Don’t mind the hand warmers; my hands were freezing :(...winter does terrible things to nails and hands.

This is a really nice purple taupe that doesn’t make my hands look dead. I remember I tried OPI’s Parlez-vous OPI? and it did just that. :( This colour looks quite different in various kinds of lighting. Indoors I could’ve sworn it looked like Sephora by OPI’s Metro Chic.

I must say, Essie’s bottle has grown on me. Before I didn’t like it because it reminded me of a glass jar with a cheap white plastic lid…but I think it looks soo cute in that shade picture. :3

So I know a few people asked me a while back about some of my crocheted animals. As of now I only have patterns posted. So for any of you girls who are into crocheting... here it is!

When I have spare time I'll type up other patterns. Right now I only have the ducks. I'll have pandas up soon. :)

OPI: I'm Indi-a Mood for Love

I swatched this a while back, but I still really like it. This was the second pink I've ever tried. My first was OPI's Shorts Story. I find blue-toned pinks are quite flattering with my skin tone.

If you want a cheaper alternative, I would recommend Icing’s See you at the Metro (it looks the same in the sun and bright lighting, but is more purple in darker/indoor lighting).

This colour is actually quite opaque. You might be able to pull this off in one coat, but I wore two coats because it still looked a bit sheer when I held my hands up to the light.

Layering Heaven!

OPI's Hey get in the Lime! & Pearl of Wisdom

I had this love/hate relationship with this green. I was really excited when I found it a while back because I knew it was discontinued.

Overall the formula runs on the sheer side but it isn't thick, so 4 coats wasn't too bad. As for the color, it's nice but it didn't do anything for my skin.

Now with Pearl of Wisdom, it has this duo-iridiscent quality to it. It shimmers pink or green depending on the angle, but since it's over green you only see the silver & pink. So far this is my favorite laying combo. This gives me real incentive to continue experimenting :D

Can you believe it, I'm getting a little bored of cremes... need to spice up my polish.

I should go out and buy some sheers. lol

Hehe, I wore this colour at the beginning of the new year because it’s so glittery. This doesn’t excite me as much in regular lighting, but when there’s a good amount of lighting I really do love this. I'll add sunlight pictures when I get the opportunity!

As we’ve said before the brush is quite flimsy, but you don’t have to worry about picking up too much nail polish for this colour. The other colours only has a light scent to it, but for some reason this one smelled bad. Really bad. My poor nose couldn’t handle it at times and I had to take breaks in between. Too bad it was snowing outside, otherwise I would’ve applied this outside.

As you probably can tell, this was really difficult to remove, but all glitters kind of are...it probably didn’t help that I wore 3 coats and sandwiched 2 coats of top coat in there. It was quite the pain to remove, literally. At one point I think I spent 10 minutes trying to scrub off this polish. I finally gave in after and used that tin-foil “technique” and it came off with ease.

OPI: Suzi says Feng-Shui

This one was from the Hong Kong collection that was released last summer. It's been sitting on my shelf for a while so I decided it's about time I gave this one a go. It's quite pretty, it's bright yet dusty. lol, it's so strange there are colors I go wild for when I'm buying them, then I let them sit around at home for months because I can't find myself in the mood to try it out.

Oh boy, I can't wait until spring hits. The winter is just brutal on the nails... chips-ahoy I tell you.
