OPI: You Don't Know Jacques!

Direct Sunlight:

Shade:

Man, this color is difficult for me to photograph! In most pictures it looks more grey, or worn out. So I was playing around with my camera settings to see if the color would come out more accurate... I ended up taking a quick video and it turned out perfect. Don't mind the sound of my AC running, I was in a rush to get back inside the house because my hair was still wet lol.

I love this color, I forgot how great it was... for some reason the color I remember was more dusty and had a worn out look. Thank goodness that isn't the case. This color is very rich, you can get away with 2 coats but if your nails are longer you should go with 3, just because when you hold your nails up into the light you can see that it's not fully opaque.

I swatched this color when I was doing the animal print challenge. I wouldn't wear the color as is. I've used this color before for french manicures and it's easier to use it like that. When I was trying to cover the whole nail it was actually difficult to apply it nicely and took 3 good coats to make it even. I also had some clean up to do.

Weekend Finds

Sula - Paint and Peel:

Jolee's Jewels:
jolee's jewels swarovski flat back & milanandvanaily

So today I was lingering around Winners and I came across a few beauty products. Most of them were just ugly nail polish colors, or french manicure kits. Then I came across this Paint and Peel nail polish. I'll give them a go later on this week or next.

Price: $6.99 CAD (Compare at 14.00)

My second find today was Jolee's Swarovski crystals. I found this at Michael's, which is a arts and crafts store where you can find scrapbooking material, yarn, beads, stickers...everything. These crystals had a flat back and I figured I could use them for nail art. Each package contains 42 pieces, and is 3mm in size.

Regular Price: $6.99 CAD
Sale: 2 for $10CAD

Update: Hmm, so I've been looking around the Sula website because I was wondering why my polishes didn't have names and looks like someones done the ol' switch-a-roo with the polishes.

Sula Nail Polish
oh poo...at least I like all three. So it looks like I own: Azure, Kelly & Dove

I remember, I wanted this color a year ago and I didn't buy it because I wasn't that into nail polish at the time and I figured, "no thanks I'll save my 12 dollars."

I love these blue-toned pinks. They are very flattering! This color applies very evenly, you can use just 2 coats, but it does look slightly better with 3.

This is a cute color, I don't really own any peaches. This is one of the colors I've been lemming for a long time (along with the rest of China Glaze's Up and Away Collection).

Animal Print Challenge

Direct Sunlight:
Konad image plate m57 &m81

This KOTD was made for Polish Hoarder Disorder's weekly challenge.

Base: China Glaze - White on White (3 coats)
Leopard Print: Konad image plate m57 & m81. (you can use m57 alone to get the same images for the rest of the nails)
Colored Dots: Essie - Lovie Dovie, OPI - Do you lilac it?, China Glaze - Bahamian Escape, China Glaze - Re-fresh Mint, Orly - Lemonade

Ideally I wanted the gems to go in the same direction as the rest of the other patterns, but it was too late and I didnt want to redo a finger. lol.

I must admit bubble bath is much nicer than I anticipated. This is one of those nude/natural colors my sister picked out. I wore 2 coats in these pictures, which is enough if you use a design/French tip to cover the visible nail line.

As for the konad image, this design is a little difficult to put on. I struggled a lot with my thumbs because the image seemed to be too narrow to cover my thumb fully. =/ hmpf.

Overall you can’t really tell that the image isn’t perfectly placed on. I do like it a lot though.

Here I am comparing OPI’s Mod about you, Panda-monium Pink and Sally Hansen’s Fairy Nice. I did 2 coats of each. As you can see in the picture, Mod about You is the most stark of the bunch and Panda-Monium Pink could use a third coat.

Out of the three Panda-monium Pink and Fairy Nice are very similar. I would suggest getting Fairy Nice since it only needs 2 coats and it costs 2 dollars. lol

This post is for Erin who asked me a while ago to compare China Glaze’s Grape Pop to OPI’s A Grape Fit. Since I had a few colors that looked similar I decided to swatch them all. :D

This is interesting, all the colors work together to get a nice gradient fade...haha. I think all these colors are different enough to justify owning them all. Although if you don’t want to own all four, Spontaneous and A Grape Fit! look pretty similar so you can skip one of the two, they are just a few shades off.

I never thought they looked similar until my sister pointed it out. So, today I got a chance to swatch both together, and it turns out they are exact dupes!! Well I could tell that Strawberry Margarita is slightly brighter, but not enough that anyone could tell I’m wearing two different colors.

This is a bit disappointing because I really though Status Symbol is different than anything I own in my collection. Oh poo.

Lovely color, I believe I used 3 coats. Formula is standard for Essie, smooth and dries relatively quickly. This is a very nice summer color, although my sister says it looks a bit like OPI’s Strawberry Margarita.

Comparisons coming soon!

KOTD: China Glaze - Agent Lavender & Konad Image Plate M71

Outdoor:
China Glaze - Agent Lavender & Konad Image Plate M71 @ milanandvanaily

Indoor:
China Glaze - Agent Lavender swatch & Konad Image Plate M71 @ milanandvanaily

So I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of Agent Lavender without the Konad image. I was supposed to do my hands Thursday morning but I got impatient and decided to it Wednesday night.

I find that the Konad polish smudges easily if I apply topcoat right after, even though it appears dry. So I usually sleep on it and wait until the next morning. But if you click on the image you can see it smeared a little.

Okay, enough about Konad. The polish itself was very smooth and a bit runny, but it was opaque in 2 coats. The drying time on this one seemed to take a bit longer than I expected.

Note: Still no direct sunlight picture, it was raining when I ran outside to take a picture.

First thing I would like to say is that I hate the way Anna Sui polishes smell. It's supposed to smell like "roses"...pfff. I always thought their nail polishes had a weird chemical smell that lingers for days. I think adding top coat might help seal in the smell.

In terms of the formula and color, it's pretty nice. Very smooth and easy to apply, needs 3 coats to look good but you will have a slight visible nail line. I personally don't mind.

Note: Sorry no sunlight pictures this time. It's been raining a lot these days. I can't wait for the day the sun finally comes out lol.

This one needed 3 coats. The formula one this wasn't as smooth as I would like it to be, but it was relatively easy to handle.

I was originally hesistant to purchase this color because it looks too similar to OPI's A Grape Fit! But they are actually two different colors, DYLI is much lighter. Very pretty color.

Updated Rack

After moving around my polishes and kicking some off my shelf, I say it flows much better now. Although, I feel bad that some of them have to stay in this box I have under my bed.

Okay, this is the first time I wore red nail polish and I like it :). Man, the application was SOO SOO smooth, like room temperature butter. You get full even coverage on the first coat, and at two coats it's perfect.

Oh, and it dries super fast too!

Ate Berries in the Canaries swatch @ milan and vanaily

This is a bright berry color. I somewhat like it, yet I don't. At times I like how obvious it looks, and at others... especially when I have a headache or I'm nauseous, I feel like throwing up looking at it. lol, maybe it's the fact I wasn't feeling well. My family however really liked the color.

This only took 2 coats, pretty standard for OPI polishes. I wore this for 3 days, and I experienced some tip wear.

Haha, the last picture looks kind of funny. My sister says it looks like dinosaur nails because in the picture my nails look so large in relevance to my tiny wrist. So my wrist is smaller than the average 8 year old, so what. LOL (see http://www.censusatschool.ca/04/04_0405/04_0405_005-eng.htm for the average wrist size chart.)
